Optimized copypasta

Following the release of the video game Super Mario Odyssey, speedrunners started competing to beat the game in the lowest time possible, each of them attempting to earn the world record by completing it faster than the current record holder.

A Reddit user left the following comment under the video of a Super Mario Odyssey world record, in response to a prediction that there was still a lot of time that could be saved in future world records[1]:

Not a chance. The movement is too optimized at this point. I expect at most 10-20 more seconds can be saved, maybe a minute with TAS.

Following this comment, it took less than one day for the record to be beaten, which led to people mocking the comment above by turning it into a copypasta. In the following months, the record kept being improved, and this modified version of the copypasta was ironically used as a response to every single new record video:

The movement is too optimized at this point. I expect at most 10-20 more seconds can be saved, maybe a minute with TAS. People will continue competing for a while, but it would take inhuman luck in addition to perfect execution to beat this time. I wouldn't be surprised if this record stands forever.

Eventually, this copypasta became a meme of its own and spread to the world of speedrunning as a whole.

Optimized antipasti

Due to the overusage of this copypasta, people eventually became annoyed with it and started replying to it in angry ways. The following response, itself a modified copypasta[2], became a second layer of pasta, which was often commented in reply to the original copypasta in order to mock the aforementioned annoyed people, becoming sort of a meta-copypasta:

No? You know what? Just go away.



Every time someone posts a picture, a gif, a video, a screenshot, or just anything really that involves some kind of speedrun - A World Record, a new strat, or probably just even the PB of a random streamer given how overboard you dummies go, you have to "The movement is too optimized at this point" it.



I'm done. I've had enough. You can't just spam "The movement is too optimized at this point" and expect an upvote. You can't just be like "dude, you're doing a speedrun?" and post "The movement is too optimized at this point." You just can't.



I doubt you even speedrun given how against them you are. You live in a cardboard box, typing on your CrapBook Pro, feeling good about yourself because you think you just "called someone else out" for getting a maxed speedrun.



Just who do you think you are? Some epic 12-year-old on the internet with le cool fedora posting about how "good runner beats this record, good runner ties that record?" Well, I've got news for you. You aren't anything. You aren't epic, you aren't a 12-year-old, and your fedora certainly isn't le cool.



I hope in time you will learn that not every strat and every run is a maxed out speedrun.
